The Words With Jam Short Story Competition

My short story, The Legacy has been shortlisted in The Words With Jam Short Story Competition.  The story is set in Thailand and is about family relationships.  It's one I wrote sometime ago, but I recently re-worked it using some of what I learnt on my Creative Writing MA course.  It just goes to show that one should never give up!

Finding The Time to Write

My writing plans have gone awry of late, so it was good to finally get down to doing some writing last week.  I managed to write two new short stories (2,000 words each) and sent them off to two competitions (The Quercy Local Short Story Competition and Mslexia Short Story Competition).  It was liberating to be writing some new material.  I now need to get back to writing novel number two so no more procrastinating!

Competitions

I have entered three competitions this month.  The first one was for stories up to 750 words run by Writing Magazine.  The second was for short stories up to 2,000 words run by Mslexia.  The final one was for 500 word stories run by Flash 500.  I won’t know the outcome for a couple of months.  I'm really enjoying writing flash fiction at the moment.  My aim is to try and enter a couple of competitions each month as well as continuing with The Salvesen Sisters.  I'll keep you updated on progress!
